How We Can Help
Getting older doesn’t mean giving up on movement, it means finding new ways to stay strong, steady, and independent. Whether you're recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or just wanting to feel more confident in your body, exercise physiology can help you keep doing the things you love. Our balance class offers a fun way to improve your balance and reduce your risk and fear around falling.
We support older adults to move safely and meaningfully, no matter their starting point. Group classes provide a comfortable starting place to work on your balance with other people who also feel like you! It is lower cost than an individual appointment so can help you access an Exercise Physiologist more easily initially, and give you a good starting point for developing your balance skills.
It’s never too late to feel better in your body. We’re here to help you life life the way you want to, in this case managing your balance so that you can reduce your falls risk and remain independent.
What We Support
Our balance classes primarily assist with managing;
Falls prevention and improved balance
Age-related muscle and strength loss (sarcopenia)
Arthritis, joint replacements and joint pain
Osteoporosis and bone health
Chronic pain and fatigue
Neurological conditions (e.g., Parkinson’s, stroke recovery)
Recovery from hospitalisation or surgery
Maintaining independence with daily tasks like walking, stairs, dressing, and housework
Our Approach
Through using what is called progressive overload (a program that gets slightly more challenging each week) we aim to help you improve your balance and coordination to reduce your risk of falls and help some of you tackle your fears around falling.
We will have a variety of exercises to challenge your ability to stay balanced when you’re moving, when there is more than one task, when you are bumped off balance, when you are reaching for something, when your vision is low and so many other things! We want our exercises to end up being harder than what you face in real life so that real life is easy to stay balanced!
We want these classes to help you feel more safe in your home or when you are out and about. We want to help you feel in control to reduce your risk of falling and improve your ability to recover balance if it is lost. We want to build confidence in your ability to remain upright and have the skills to back this confidence up! These classes aim to ensure that you remain as independent as possible as you age while giving you a fun social way to challenge yourself.
